Kelly Farm Pool uses the WeatherBug App to track nearby lightning strikes. All pool activities will be suspended when thunder or lightning is detected within a ten-mile radius. The pool must remain clear for 30 minutes after the most recent lightning strike within ten miles of the pool. Patrons must remain under a sheltered area away from the edge of the pool. Showering will be prohibited during inclement weather.
Heavy rain and wind can make it difficult to see the bottom of a pool or beneath the surface. If heavy rain or wind causes bottom obstruction, pools will be cleared and closed until the weather has stopped.
In the event of cooler temperatures:
The pool will close if the water temperature drops below the state code limit of 77°.
All swimming-related events, including swim lessons, will be cancelled if the temperature is not forecasted to reach 65° by the start of the class or open swim.
Kelly Farm Pool will not open if the air temperature is forecasted to be below 65° by opening (according to WeatherBug). If the air temperature is not 65° by opening, we will reevaluate the forecast to determine if a late opening is possible. If the Air Temperature is not forecasted to reach 65° by 2 p.m., outdoor facilities will close for the day.
NOTE: KFPRA reserves the right to close the pool even if these exact conditions aren't met.
